It began in the following way... March 19, 2020. It's a Thursday. It's 10:50 in the morning and my world has changed even more than it changed on Monday. I need structure. Paint for the first 10 minutes of each day. This is the structure I committed to. 

It is now January 2023, and I have created more than 20 chickens expressing different emotions. 

Each piece invites the viewer to contemplate the emotion(s) expressed on and through the chicken. What is the feeling that exists in the space between you and the chicken? Are there other influences informing and shaping your emotions? As Dutch psychologist Batja Mesquita has delicately and poignantly laid out in her recent book: “cultural differences go beyond semantics...emotions [exist] ‘between’ people rather than ‘within.’ ” While I have titled each piece, my intention is for this to be an interactive experience.

Below the title of each piece is a few words about my experience and motivation for creation.
